Tweed Sporran and flashes?
Greetings all. I am considering having a sport-coat converted to a day-wear kilt jacket. While looking at the plans and things others have done, I realized there would bee a bit of the fabric cut away as "scrap."
Here is what I was thinking... This is a Harris tweed jacket. I figured that I might be able to "face" a basic leather sporran with some of the scraps. I figured I might also produce matching flashes while I was in the mood to sew.
This is not a question about the hows. I am wondering what others might think of the idea. Having your sporran and flashes match you jacket? TOO much? Dashing??
All insight or opinions welcomed. OOOOOOOH... Maybe I could make a matching Flat-cap!!!! LOL :buttkick:

I think I may consider having tweed flashes at most - but not a sporran. That's just me.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I would wear tweed flashes to match the kilt (like the ones that Rocky at USA Kilt sells), but I wouldn't wear tweed flashes that matched the jacket but not the kilt.
This is just my opinion

I'll have to agree with Panache. To my eye tweed flashes matching the kilt are a good thing, but matching the jacket and not the kilt not so much.

To my eyes, matching flashes to the kilt looks downright awful.

Tweed flashes to match a tweed kilt are not new - I have several and must say I like the look very much. I would not have them to match the jacket, however, unless I was wearing a tweed kilt suit, which I do from time to time.
As for the sporran: This might be a little too much, but it could work although only if it matches the kilt, not the jacket. I have a camoflage fronted sporran which matches one of my camo kilts, and a denim fronted one which goes with a denim kilt. I think a lot will depend upon the tweed.
Take care,
Ham.

Jock, is this a typo? I'm thinking you meant "...matching flashes to the jacket..."

No typo. I did mean matching flashes to the kilt looks dreadful. I should have added----- so does matching flashes to the jacket too!

Not sure how I feel about matching tweed flashes to tweed kilt (jury's still out on that) but I don't think I'd match flashes to jacket with a tartan kilt... Perhaps with a solid color kilt (ie saffron or dark green for instance) it might work.
