    Kilt-Mart sporran

Ok I recently ordered a sporran from Kilt-Mart

With my limited knowledge I will try and give an unbiased review of the entire experience.

Website: was easy to navigate and find what I was looking for.

Variety of products: Somewhat limited selection in regards to most things, however there was a good selection of sporrans.

Order Process: this is a bit of a mixed bag. Order was placed easy enough however a week later I went to check on if it was shipped and my order was listed as pending still. Quick e-mail asking what was going on revieled their spam filter had blocked my order placment. but they quickly got that sorted out and my sporran was in the mail.

Shipping: 3 days from the time my credit card was charged till it was in the mail box. Would have been a dead heat with SWK had they not lost my order to a spam filter for a week.

Product: ok down to the nitty gritty, I ordered the "Studded Leather Sporran w/ Shield design"

All in all I like the sporran I realize its a direct rip off from the "Black Leather Hunting Sporran" from the Scottish tartan museum and if I had $230 to drop on a sporran I would much prefer the one they sell. For the money its a great sporran and around normal company no one will make note of it really. When in the company of other kilties I may turn some heads due to its obvious lower quality leather but it looks good enough. I'll rank it as a 10ft sporran looks fine from 10ft.

    Result:
Aside from the email issue all in all everything went smoothly, got a descent sporran for a dirt cheap price. Will i shop again? i might depending on if a need arises.

Thanks for the review. I think all of us would like a very nice sporran from L&M or Scottish Tartans Museum. Unfortunately, those sporrans are almost as much as a new kilt. Honestly, I would never pay that much for a sporran. It is either buy a cheap one, make one yourself, or go without. I chose option #2

I was thinking of getting that exact sporran for my dad for Christmas! Can you possibly post a few pics of it?

Sure thing I'll see if i can dig out the camera. I'll say the gusset seems a little weak but time will tell. I wear my kilt daily so I'll give a follow up review after about a week.

Me self like Tiny, purchased one of their sporrans, in Brown along with a Brown Kilt Belt. I was trying to change from me normal black look. I never removed the sporran from it's wrapping, and wore the belt only one time.
My report on their products would mirror Tiny's pretty much, that's why I have the sporran and belt up for sale if any one is interested, PM me!

You say it is a copy of one at the STM. Is that "'Black Leather Hunting Sporran' from the Scottish tartan museum," one of the L and M sporrans, or is it in the dress sporran section?

    * Oops, sorry, I meant the "Ferguson Britt" sporrans.

I put a correction in my post, I was talking about the Ferguson Britt sporrans at the STM, rather than the L and M which are handled differently there.

    Exclamation

Ok I've been wearing this sporran for a few days now and its holding up well. I'll say I'm sorry to those who seem offended by my Pakistani sporran. the only version of this sporran I had seen up to this point has been the one I purchased and the one from L & M. Had I know about another option for this sporran I may have held off and saved up for it. As far as how much I paid, I paid $23 so in no way do I feel ripped off. I got roughly half the quality for 10% of the price.

The idea that if its not made in Scotland its crap is too narrowminded for me. Please remember that I do own this I spent my hard earned money on it and I DO wear it. I don't insult what you wear or your choices in kit. The reason for these reviews on the cheaper products its to give a realistic view of the product so others who maybe short on cash can make educated decisions on where to spend there money and where to save some pennies.

I stand by my choice to pick up this very affordable sporran and enjoy wearing it. I would recomend this sporran to anyone looking for a cheap starter sporran. its after you have got your kit together and you get a feel for what your style is that you know what you really want to spend extra on and what you shouldn't.

If anything this sporran has given me more ideas for when I eventualy make my own.
