Plaid brooch
Hi guys. I'm looking for a plaid brooch that doesn't look like a "stock" Scottish item. Sure - it can have thistles or a stag on it, but I'm looking for a design that isn't available in every second kilt shop.
I like a lot of the Celtic wire patterns and I'd rather not have a stone present in it.
The main thing I'm looking for is a bit of originality in the design... though I'm not sure if I could afford a custom-made brooch.
Could anyone recommend a supplier?
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

This one at USA Kilts is pretty unique and stylish from the others I've seen

And something a bit more rustic? Cut the prong off and use a stick pin to actually pin the plaid in place.

Paul, I have a common or garden pewter brooch with a plastic looking blue glass 'stone'. I have taken it to a local jeweller who does his own stone tumbling. He is putting a lapis lazuli stone in for me. It is not back yet, so no pics, but it will be ready in time for Burns Night II.
Maybe modifying an existing brooch would work?
Regards
Chas
