    Blue kilts (saltire pleats)

At the NYC Tartan Day Parade last Saturday, I didn't see much as I was walking in the parade near the back. However, I did notice one guy with a blue kilt pleated to the saltire, meaning that the X appeared across the pleats. That certainly caught my attention, but I wonder now what kind of magic was required to pull that off?

The X is woven into the material at different places along the pleats. The kilt is basically pleated to the stripe with the design woven into the pleat.

    Do you mean like this:

The upper is the full 8 yards with the saltire on everything except the apron and the lower is after the pleats have been put in - if that makes sense.
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

It is a very nice kilt for sure. I have seen that Rocky carries them, as I have come close to making that purchase on a few occasions they are very sharp.

On my recent trip to Las Vegas over St. Patricks Day, I only saw two other gents in kilts...one was wearing this style. It's not my style, as I'm more of a traditionalist, but it really does look good as a modern alternative.

Shame that we didn't know you were coming. You could have joined the NY Metro Rabble for the festivities. Give a heads up next time!

And this is my 2,000th post! OMG, where has the time flown since I was a lowly noob!

I believe this is the kilt you are referring to. This is No.60 in my Kollection and it was purchased in June 2006.

    Take care,
    Ham.

Wow that is quite a large collection of kilts. This kilt always catches the eyes of people at highland games as well.
