Kilties beware, the midge is out there!
last night I was up at Helensburgh on the Gairloch and later on in the evening went down to Duck Bay on the southern shores of Loch Lomond, I was'nt kilted but as the weather was very warm most people, like myself were in shorts.
Today, I'm sitting at work still scratching myself after last night's Midge attack, they were certainly out in force on Loch Lomondside last night.
So indigenous kilties and kilted visitors alike, be aware as this seems to be a vintage season for our minute flying friends

Didn't someone once say that Skin So Soft was successful in repelling the wee beasties?
Just curious....

I remember my grandmother complaining that she moved out of Scotland to get away from the "bloody midges" only to get to Colorado and get assaulted by the "bloody mosquitoes!" Gods bless her...

Skin so soft was something we took to the field with us, to combat the chiggers.. I laugh when I think back to the Avon lady having Marines lining up to get their orders in...

I was up in Aberdeen for the week gone on a course. Can't say the midges were a problem but a seagulls deposited what looked like eight bowls of porridge onto my car.

Midges are not mosquitos, rather a smaller nastier swarming buglet that bites. We have a few skeeters, but my trees have bats.

I had some sort of "issued" bug repellent when I was in the Army down at Benning. Don't know exactly what it was, it came in a plain white plastic bottle, marked "Bug Repellent" in black, but whatever it was it worked!
I had a bottle of the stuff when I came home & used it until it was gone.
Wish I had some now
