17, 18, 19 Sept. N.H. Games
It is that time to prepare for the games at Loon Mountain again.
I will be there all three days and will be around the S.A.M.S. tent, MacNeil tent, or the Cunningham tent. Hope to see many Xmarkers, and those coming to the mountain will get a chance to meet up with Cessna152towser, who is traveling from his home in Scotland to be with us. For his arrival in Boston, on the 10th, there is a kilt night at 7:00 P.M. at The Haven in Jamaica Plain. This is in a kilt night thread, please post there if you are coming to that event.
Please post here if you will be joining us at The New Hampshire Highland Games.
This year the New Hampshire Games are hosting the World competition of Drum Majors, as well as the World team championships in Heavy Athletics. Sixty tent sights have been signed up in the Clan Village. Many Pipe and Drum bands are competing as well as many Solo piping competitions.
The Scottish food from many vendors, several Whisky tastings and events for all ages, so bring the young 'uns.
The entertainers include the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Albannach. Both bands will be having a joint concert on Saturday evening. Many other entertainers keeping three performance areas busy all day and night. Scottish dancing, and various Scottish crafts will be on hand.
The New England foliage should be in great colours on the mountains during the games.

Yes, my wife and I will be there!! Will be walking all over this year (except when we are at the "concerts") as we are staying the whole weekend.
Will be in kilt the whole time even if it is as cold as last year. Just look for the guy in the Shepherd check/tartan. That will be me.

But wait, given photos of him recently, are you sure he won't be at the Hobo RR instead????

If all goes to plan I intend to ride the Hobo RR on Sunday 12th September. Anybody going to join me?

Yes it would be good to have kilted companions on the train ride. The train leaves from Lincoln at 11:00 and 13:00.
13:00 would probably suit me best as I am not sure yet of the logistics of finding my way from Loon Mountain Resort to the train station in downtown Lincoln.

Alex, since you seem to be a train buff, don't forget to look into the cog railroad up Mt. Washington, which is not far from where you'll be.. It's a spectacular ride.

Wish I was going this year with my dancers, but it is too close to another trip. If anyone is looking for a handmade custom kilt I believe Judy Sullivan and Patti Smith will have a booth at the games. I'm not sure where their booth will be, but if you are in the market for a kilt, be sure to look for them. They are both fabulous kilt makers.

I agree, to get to The Cog, it would be a 45 minute ride from Loon but well worth the trip!
There is a link on the Lincoln's Chamber of Commerce website www.lincolnwoodstock.com/business/index.php for transportation at www.theshuttleconnection.com but I can't check it out from work.

My husband and I will be making the trip down from Vermont back to our home state for the games! His father and brother will be in attendance as well. We booked a condo for the family this year so they don't have to drive from Southern NH every day and we don't have to camp. We had some cold nights a few years back!
