Shoulder surgery
Had arthoscopic surgery on Wednesday. They did not find any rotator cuff tears. They resected the clavicle which, as I understand it, means they removed some bone from the joint so it wont pinch the nerves anymore.
I knew it was time to do something about it when I could no longer stand the pain of buckling my kilt straps.
Recovering now, and not the least bit patiently. Anyone else had this?

I’ve got a plate and ten screws in my left shoulder. At first you think you will never recover but if you follow your rehab regimen diligently you will be happy with the results in years to come. You never realize how many ways a shoulder is suppose to move until it won’t. Good luck.

Recovery from shoulder surgery is a lot like getting through your first hangover. It goes on and on, and you just know this is the way the rest of life is going be. The first three days after mine, I made a list of my worst enemies, and had their friends call them to recommend they have it done.
Do the physical therapy, and don't be a martyr to the pain. TAKE THE PILLS.
Wave with the other hand for a while, and best wishes for a quick recovery.

My 60 year old wife has the same thing. But you didn't say anything about the foot long scar where they cut her to install her new titanium. It matches the scar on her elbow where the titanium elbow is. Only 4 years apart. It just might as well have been me going through rehab. Listen to the Doctors. They know a lot more than I do.
btw.....she is a lot older than I am.

My rotator cuff just wore out after too many years hanging onto bucking ships and they went in and rebuilt it. After three months of PT I was pain free and had about 95% of range of motion back.
Now it is 4 years later I had one moment of pain in the last 12 months when it just stiffened up on me and popped hard when I was being a bit more athletic than I usually am. I am very pleased with how mine turned out, as you said when even the most mundane activities are painful you have to do something.

I've had some shoulder problems but no experience with the surgery, Bob, but I hope you have a speedy and complete recovery.

I remember the time I damaged my left arm and shoulder in a fall and acquired a stabbing pain - being a natural southpaw it really cut in on just about every activity.
Since then I have been a lot more ambidexterous.
The hospital and the doctors could not find anything wrong everything worked it just hurt, but after a couple of months I happened to lose my balance, put my hand on the wall, and I felt something move and release in my shoulder. It hurt constantly for two days, and then it went away.
The pinching of nerves in the shoulder is something rather memorable, and I do hope that the treatment will resolve your troubles.
Take the pills, do the exercises, take care of yourself, let the healing happen - may you soon be buckling on with the best.

Thanks, everybody. I've had the arm out of the sling from time to time, though I can't raise it very high. My job does not include physical labor, so I'm hoping to return to work in a week. I'll keep the sling with me in case I need to rest it.
