Happy Birthday, Your Majesty
Seven days in advance, this is just a simple reminder of and lead-up to the 85th birthday on April 21 of Elizabeth, the constitutional monarch of sixteen independent sovereign states known as the Commonwealth realms: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis and Head of the 54-member Commonwealth of Nations representing one-third of the world's population.
To give some perspective to the longevity of our head of state:
-- more to come...

Our toast to Elizabeth II, our soverign for 58 of her 85 years. We wish her a very happy birthday in advance of April 21 and trust that she will long reign over us.

We can put it into a Canadian perspective, too, with HM The Queen of Canada's Prime Ministers;
1. With The Rt. Hon. Louis St-Laurent:
2. With The Rt. Hon. John George Diefenbaker:
3. With The Rt. Hon Lester B. Pearson:
4. With The Rt. Hon. Pierre Trudeau:
5. Missing a photo of The Rt. Hon. Joe Clark
6. Missing a photo of The Rt. Hon. John Turner
7. With The Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney:
8. Missing a photo of The Rt. Hon. Avril Phædra Douglas "Kim" Campbell
9. With The Rt. Hon. Paul Martin:
10. With The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper:
Now, I know for a fact, that both Mr. Clark and Mr. Turner have met The Queen. I have seen Mr. Clark with Her Majesty. Mr. Turner has met The Queen on countless occasions, including when he was PM in 1984 and went to London to advise HM to postpone a scheduled Royal Visit to Canada because of an impending election.. I do not know of Ms. Campbell ever met The Queen while Prime Minister, but she did meet The Queen while a Cabinet Minister during a Royal Visit.

Happy Birthday...
Long live the Queen!
P.S. Thanks for cropping that pic of G.W.B. so we didn't have to see that "how not to wear white tie" example.

Her Majesty, in a fond photo with Canadian PM Jean Chretien.
and Brooke I did not intend that there be any religious or political tone or overtone to this thread despite your reading, my friend. My intent was limited to recognising Her Majesty's 85th birthday on April 21 and her long years as head of state for one-third of the world's population. I used the numerous American Presidents as an example of the time-line because I thought that you who are Americans might best understand this in terms of world history; Sandy in fine fashion added Canadian governmental leaders for those members who are Canadians (and I add the above to his) and Ern added a few pics of her Majesty's visits to the US of A on dates significant to Americans.
Again my wishes are for a happy 85th birthday for Queen Elizabeth. Long may she reign over us.
