    Library Book Sale Find!

Got this at our recent Friends of the Library book sale:

Library Book Sale Find by haukehaien, on Flickr

It's a third printing, 1946, with a price of 8s.6d. on the inside cover.

So far, it's really funny, too.

Great find! It's nice coming across a gem like that at a book sale. I'd be interested to know how it compares to the TV series.

Macman: The TV series did an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the book, but the story and characters are quite different. For one thing, the book is set in the '20s, the series in the present (00's). Both are well worth the time spent, especially if you like all things Scottish.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

haukehaien: Should you ever decide to dispose of the book, I suggest you investigate its value. Mackenzie's books are increasingly difficult to find, so it may be worth some bucks. For example on AbeBooks.com that book is selling from $50 to $1250. For details see
