Edinburgh kilt makers
Hello
I'll be in Edinburgh in about a month and would like to visit a few good (traditional, Scots owned, quality) kilt makers. We'll be staying near the Mile and will be on foot. Recommendations? (I suspect there's a previous thread but can't find it so if anyone can direct me with a link that would be great too)

I have two kilts made by Geoffrey Tailor, both of which I love.

I would second that: friendly knowledgeable and not "snotty"!

Edinburgh Kiltmakers
Geoffrey (Tailor) are OK, Hector Russell are equal, but the Celtic Craft centre which is between those two shops on the Royal Mile are better for quality of tailoring and personal service, in my opinion.

That's where I ordered my tank. The quality is superb, the cooperation is great. They're not very good at answering E-mails, but yes, I would go back I think.

Here are my thoughts after spending some time on an exchange in Edinburgh. Geoffery Tailor is first rate with great service, Celtic Craft makes nice kilts but on all 10 plus times i went in the shop, over a period of a few months, I could not get any service. They were always on the phone and / or avoided eye contact. It made me wonder if I had taken my invisible pills that day. Another thumbs up for 21st Century Kilts located on Thistle Street. You may also want to have a look at Slanj Kilts on St Marys street.
Kinloch Anderson are top notch but are out near the end of Ferry Road in Leith - near the Royal Yacht Britannia
have a great trip!

It's not traditional but I'll put forward a recommendation for TFCK, Howie is great to deal with.
The hielan' man he wears the kilt, even when it's snowin';
He kens na where the wind comes frae,
But he kens fine where its goin'.
