Glasgow and Edinburgh Weather next week
A question to the locals of both fine cities, my wife and a few of her colleagues are off to an Oncology conference next week and are going to be in both cities as well as the Isle of Skye and wanted to know the locals weather forecasts for next week. Usually much more accurate than any iPhone app or weather website. Seems that they require wardrobe planning, shoe, coats etc..... God help the poor baggage handlers!
Thank you in advance!

I live not too far from Skye, but as a rule of thumb the west coast of Scotland is wetter than the east coast and windier. But-------
Expect rain wherever you are in Scotland. We have just had a long spell(for us) of beautiful dry and sunny weather, but now we are back to sunshine and showers, showers and sunshine and showers that last most of the day!
It won't be too cold, but a waterproof coat ,a pullover(sweater), and a sensible hat need to be within reach at all times---------even in summer. As to shoes, well I suppose it depends a bit on what you are going to do, but I would avoid anything too fancy.
Have fun.

And look on the bright side - when it is raining it keeps potential insect nuisances grounded!

Oh no! Rain does not keep the midge grounded, in some circumstances it can make them worse. However a good stiff breeze does not suit their flying abilities. Oh, and the midge and umpteen million of its friends were out in force last evening!

However a tad too early for the dreaded midges.

The weather in Scotland like most of the time is a hit or a miss, probably too early to know what it is going to be like, forecasting Scottish weather for more than 3 days is always inaccurate.
If you are in Scotland on Saturday 21st May, the Scottish Pipe Band Championship is being held at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton (free entry) It is a spectacular setting with Dumbarton Castle looming largely in the background, the River Leven meeting the Clyde Estuary on the banks of the park. If the weather is sunny, this setting is right out of the cover of a shortbread tin, you could sell Scotland worlwide with this setting.
Dumbarton is a half hour drive from Glasgow on the road to Skye from Glasgow and only 15 minutes drive from the southern shores of Loch Lomond which you will drive almost the full length of, if driving from Glasgow

Well perhaps midges are good at flying between the raindrops then Jock!

If it is any help, it is 1600 hrs local(Scots) time on Friday 13th May. Fresh light to heavy snow down to about 3000 ft.Below that, heavy rain/hail showers followed by warmish sunny periods and moderately cold at nights. This weather is going to last well into next week.
Bring a warm waterproof coat, pullovers etc. AND A CAMERA! Between the showers the light and the views are simply stunning!
