My Daughter at The Va State Open Bowling tournament
Today at the Va State Bowling Tournament, my daughter had games of 242, 159 and 256 to shoot 657, with an entering average of mid 160s
Some of you who are bowlers might see this as someone who "sandbags"but she only bowls once a week in a small church league with very inconsistent lane conditions, so it is just a case of having a lane condition which suited her style.
I was very proud of her.( even though she insists on calling my kilts skirts) She is 29 now, and has been bowling since she was 6. Today was the highest set she has ever had.
If she didn't have my problem of waiting too late to adjust to changing conditions (second game), she might have shot her first 700 series. I guess I can take some of the blame for that as I was one of her early coaches.

I never learned how to keep score, and don't really care what mine is, but please pass along our congrats to your daughter.

Alright I am going to show my ignorance here, but humour the Old Boy, if you will. Is this the game that Sir Francis Drake played before The Armada turned up in the English Channel? Or some other game?
I am delighted that your daughter is doing so well, but I can't for the life of me understand her scores!

I believe this is American bowling. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here we go:
Drake's game (or the modern equivalent):

A perfect score in American bowling is 300, to give some idea about her scores. I'd guess a 150 (or lower) is about the average for a purely recreational bowler.
I hope that helps a bit!
