    Hello and welcome from Ohio. Can't tell you anywhere specific as far as kilt friendly in Texas, but where I live anytime I go to a nice dinner I tend to wear mine in addition to the regular festival circuite and I have recently started hiking in a lighter weight kilt. Wear in comfort and pride.
