    You should be so lucky...

Scrolling down the main index page of XMtS this morning my eyes lit on the Last Post featured in the 'Wanted Ads' section of The X Market area. It was posted by our good friend Matt Newsome and is headed: "Help me find a 36" waist...".

Sadly I cannot help you Matt. I lost my 36" waist some 40 years ago, have never been able to find a replacement and am obliged to live with one some 10" larger! I would ask that, if ever you find the 36" waist, you be so kind as to advise me of the source so that I might acquire one for myself. Many thanks.

    Take care,
    Ham.

I'm a few decades younger than you, no doubt, but I too have recently lost my 36" waist. One very similar looking to it showed up at some point. A 38" snuck in a replaced it when I was not paying attention. By the time I noticed the 36" was long gone and I can't seem to track it down anywhere.

Now I've gotten quite fond of the 38" one, I only hope to keep it for a while longer before Mr. 40" comes in and steals it away when I'm not paying attention!

I thought a 36" waist was just a fable like memaids, unicorns, leprechauns, Big foot, the flying Dutchman, That is they are believed to exist but no one has any real proof that they ever did.

I didn't like my pot belly at first, but it kind of grew on me, and now I'm very attached to it.

There seems to be some sort of epidemic going around. I too have lost my once treasured 29" waist and have found it to be replaced with a somewhat larger 36". Probably destined to be replaced yet again with one of those 38ers.

I'm desperately trying to find that 34" I had a few years back... I know it's around here somewhere.

Right now I have the use of a dunlap (as in, it done lapped over the waistband) that seems to be stretching.

Probably due to too much of this :food-smiley-002: and this int: and not enough of this and this .

36" waist, I got. But now I seem to have lost my "bum". No more "padding" in the stern.
So, if you do try to regain the past it can also bite you in the a**.

I have some really good quality suede leather skirts, each of which would probably make a nice handbag, from the days when I had a 26 inch waist.

Cutting down on carbs has given me a shrinking waistline, so that I have to remake all my kilts from time to time - Kingussie and reverse Kingussie kilts require a good fit as the centre back is not negotiable in the same way as a knife pleated kilt. As soon as it becomes too big the apron becomes off centre.

Slightly too small is better than too large for me, as it reduced the intervals between remakes.

It is just a matter of cutting down the intake of sugar and starch, and alcohol, if relevant, and the inches will melt away effortlessly - I have tried every diet and exercise regime on the planet and nothing else worked.

I doubt I will ever get back to a 26 inch waist again, but at least I am heading that way.
