    Potential Beret Project?

So i recently received a beret from my aunt, after she saw me wearing my baseball hat with my kilt thinking that the beret would look better. but its very plain and very french looking. so i was thinking maybe i could alter it but wouldn't know where to start. so how do i make look more scottish? I'm fairly good with a needle and thread but dont have a machine and would be doing everything by hand.

Not exactly, like yours. His was darker in color. But, the principles should be the same. And trust me you will want to get a heavy duty needle, check your local sewing shop for carpet-type needles, if you are going to do this by hand. A few years ago, I added a grosgrain band to a French beret, and broke two lighter weight needles. Also, a glovers palm may be of help in avoiding having a needle go through your finger.

Thanks Harold! any suggestions on a color scheme? im thinking black ribbon and pom pom for the top, black goes with everything right? is there any meanings/traditional uses of certain colors?
