    Smile Guinness and Velvet

Started making boilermakers with Guinness and Black velvet 8yr whiskey. I call it a "Canadian Clover". Pretty good, too. The Velvet really compliments the Guinness. Just thought I'd share.

    Re: Guinness and Velvet

Hmmm... on another thread some folks have given their critiques of the new Guinness Black (almost mistyped "bland"). Maybe a "Black and Black" as per your new find. Actually, I tired the Guinness Black with Blue Moon (a Black and Blue) and found it better than either separately!!!

    Re: Guinness and Velvet

The Guinness and Velvet does sound tasty. Although I still enjoy, if Im going to mix my drinks, Guinness and a good Irish Whiskey. I do enjoy certain beers and scotch that just seem to pair well. My favorite is usually something I enjoy in the cold of winter when the oysters are in season. A few dozen raw oysters on the shell, or even in shell because Im pretty good at getting to them, a glass full of cellar temp Old Rasputin Imperial Stout and a rocks glass with three fingers of Lagavulin. My preference is to be sitting out in the cold by a fire, a box of oysters and oyster knife in hand and these fine beverages to quaff as I eat my fill of oysters......

Nice. For some reason I really enjoy homemade popcorn when drinking beer or mixed drinks and nothing at all when having a fine scotch.

I myself enjoy a snake bite: Guinness and cider.

Funny enough that's the same name as one of my favorite shots. Yukon Jack and Sweet Lime.
