The Scottish Highlander Photo Archive (SHPA)

It has a search function (try kilt). many old photo's.

    http://www.scottishhighlanderphotoarchive.co.uk

I spent hours on this site.

An example of a handsom young man. Love the jacket and he has very shiny shoes.

    This is some sporran...

    Out in the field.

An interesting one, They appear to be a boy and girl with their mother but the children are dressed the same.

    Last one, tartan?

Some are dated but most are not which is a pity.

    Chris.

Great site Chris, thanks for putting us onto it. I much admire the jackets in the first two photos. The jacket with the high lapels in the second photo is very nice. Cheers

    Nice site.

Now just waiting for someone to post "Hey! Just found my grandad on there!".

By jove, ole boy I think you're right. The years have passed, but the stance looks right. I do believe, judging by the jaunty lean on the walking stick that he is about to point out to the photographer that his hose are indeed appropriate wear at this time of day.

Love the hose in the second photo! Somebody forgot to tell him that patterned hose are not appropriate except for with formal wear. Either that, or it's not really a rule after all. ;)

Too bad they splattered the SHPA logo all over these images...

As has been stated oh so many times, by oh so many people on this website, there are no rules with civilian kilt attire. There are however, conventions, traditions and asthetics to consider carefully, should you be so inclined.

In point of fact, the gentleman in question is perfectly attired for a formal day event. I think these days though, probably due to cost, solid coloured hose are rather more common.

No Jeff, it is not me.

Well they do own the copyright. Property is property. It's not like you can't get a print or digital copy. You have to pay to play.
