Just a thought....
It wasn't until I started wearing kilts and sporrans that I developed an appreciation of why it takes so long for women to find things in their purses. It's because whatever you happen to be looking for at any given moment is always at the bottom.

I always make sure my whiskey flask is on the top, the heck with the cell phone and wallet.

That is exactly how I see it. The important things are always at the top.
Actually, I don't carry any more than I need, which is cell phone, wallet and car keys. I keep my makeup in the car.

If that is the case, then I hope I never get caught behind you at a stoplight.

Thanks Hawk. I'll need a whole bottle of Johnny Walker and claw hammer to get that image out of my head.

If that were true then you could easily find it by reaching directly to the bottom of the sporran, but this doesn't happen. The truth is that what you are looking for knows you are looking for it and it avoids your grasp by jumping behind other objects when your hand goes in the bag. I give them less thing to hide behind and stack the odds in my favour.

Hahaha So true!
It's equal to the mystery of why one elusive sock always manages to escape being brought out of the dryer.

Re: Just a thought....
Even after nearly 30 years of marriage, I never go into my wife's purse (even when she asks me to) and she never goes in my wallet. I would not be surprised to find Jimmy Hoffa at the bottom of her purse. Just a scary place that I choose never to venture into.
As for the missing socks: I am always amazed at how many of those escaped socks can be found run down by cars and lying near the curb on the street downtown. (Obviously they were running quickly for the sidewalk but never made it...and I never see them near a crosswalk.)

So true this ^... In my mind (not my wife's), a total violation of one's most private space.
