    Guess what got here yesterday!

My new modern Douglas kilt, pleated to the double indigo stripes, arrived from Sandy St. James yesterday. It has been a seemingly long Jones indeed, but it's finally here.

Next comes pics with me actually modeling it.

    Congratulations.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Thanks; the color in the pic isn't exactly true--the green looks too green-blue. It's more forest green in reality. And taking the shot in the 'ambient' light mode makes it look too yellowish, as though by the fireplace. Modelling coming, I swear. I was out at an all-day band practice yesterday followed by pizza party at the P/M's house.

As a Douglas collector I really like the looks of that particular colorset tartan---not the usual very dark Douglas. Need more details----what tartan mill, what weight, what kiltmaker, etc..., in addition to pictures with you in it and preferably out in the sunshine where we can get a true idea of the colors, since you feel that the pictures do not do the tartan justice.

Congratulations on your acquisition, as well as surviving the jones.

Sandy doesn't generally reveal his kiltmakers' identities, which I admit is a bit fishy-smelling. At least, when I was concerned (needlessly, as it turned out) that my pleating request might be problematic or strange, I asked him if he could pass my contact info. along. He never acknowledged that request, but that's entirely in keeping with what I was told to expect -- he's pretty incommunicado until he actually has something new or different to tell you.

Admittedly, I've never point-blank asked him who his kilt maker is. It wouldn't be necessarily anyone I'd ever heard of anyway. His reputation for providing top-shelf merchandise is pretty consistent, and that was good enough for me.

The fabric seems to be from Lochcarron -- at least the dyes and the texture are identical to a swatch I ordered independently from them, when I was deciding on my tartan. It is 16 oz. wool.
