My first try at "day wear"
So, it being National Tartan Day and all, I figured it was a good excuse to don the kilt, right? I recently acquired a brown leather kilt belt and sporran, so I figured it was time to give the "day wear" thing a try. Critiques anyone? (Beside the photography; I'm old enough that taking my own picture with a cell phone isn't second nature to me yet)

I'm on the East coast of Florida, not in a major metropolitan area, and I suspect I'll get more than a few strange looks today, so I wanted to make sure I looked respectable, yet not like I was trying too hard. I think it actually worked.

I particularly like the shirt and hose. Some would say the plate belt buckle is a bit over the top for day wear but you are certainly not the only person to wear one in this fashion.
I think you look respectable.

Thanks!
I was toying with leaving the belt off, but it just didn't look right; too much "blank space" or something. I would prefer to have a more casual belt; a round, open-buckle type for example, but this is what I got.

The look is nice, what is the tartan? I agree with the large buckle, I opt for my 1 1/2 brown leather belt with my Leadville Trail 100 buckle. A bit smaller and draws less attention. I alway find ways to do the casual thing because most places I end up are casual though I can spiff up when needed. Great look, enjoy the day.

It's the "German Heritage" tartan from USAKilts (on one of their semi-trad kilts).

Thought it looked familiar. My tank is the same in 16oz wool made by Bonnie Greene. I really like the tartan. One day ill get a USA semitrad in the same.

I agree with Jock: the kilt could do with a slight hoist upward. Everything looks good, though. Nicely done!
