New Newsome custom weave box pleat has arrived!

After several months of waiting for the tartan to be woven and for my number to come up in Matt's queue, my long-awaited Maxwell hunting box pleat kilt arrived on Friday. The kilt is still a bit rumpled from shipping, and I notice that my tie wasn't tied the right length and that I'd cinched my belt a bit too tightly, but I was anxious to post the photos, so please excuse. Guess I'm going to have to get a pair of handknit lovat green hose as well to better coordinate, but you get the idea...

Here are a couple of closeups:

And here's one a bit more dressed up, and a comparison of the sett sizes from the different mills (top Maxwell modern from Marton Mills, middle Maxwell ancient from Lochcarron, and bottom Maxwell hunting from D.C. Dalgliesh). I'm wondering why the sett size varies so drastically from mill to mill...

The kilt is nicely made, quite light compared to an 8-yarder and very comfortable to wear, so thanks to Matt for a great kilt. It was certainly worth the wait! Thanks also to Taygrd for the antler kilt pin. Once I have my MOD re-bag from Artificer, I'll be in business!

    Cheers,

    SM

Looking good Shaun. I really like the pattern that has been created with the box pleating to the stripe. The photo of you in the jacket and waistcoat is spot on. Well done.

Outstanding! I'm really starting to like the red & green tartans, and yours is one of the more attractive ones I've seen. The kilt fits you nicely, and you've got a great set of accessories to go with it. I'm liking that badger sporran more and more, as I see more photos of it.

I even think the dark blue hose look great. Lighter coloured hose (in the so-called Lovat shades) might take away from the splendour of the tartan, but it's worth trying, I guess.

My wife wanted me to tell you that you look very handsome...

That looks great. Im not sure you can improve on that look, maybe blue or yellow hose. The mask certainly set it off well. Want me 1!
