Received this tartan as a gift - clueless on the ID.

One of my regular customers at the coffee shop recently gave me some tartan fabric, a lady's kilted skirt in Stewart Red, and a Clan Scott kilt pin. She said a friend had gotten them on a trip to Scotland years ago, and gave them to her years ago when she was clearing out her closet.

The fabric is all wool, heavy (the two yards weighed in at just over two pounds), has a remarkably nice selvedge - looks the same as my Dalgliesh tartans, and the dimensions are very even between the warp and weft (the squares are actually squares)
I went so far as to check the thread counts in the sett - starting at the thin, light line - sage 4, black 2, red 6, green 4, red 18, green 32 - as rendered below

It's almost identical to the Princess Margaret Rose, except what would be a white line, is a light straw/sage colour instead.

Any help identifying the tartan would be great - I'm stumped.
    Thanks in advance!

I'd still call this Princess Margaret Rose. The fact that the white line is not a pure white is incidental. "Close enough" counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and tartan colors.

Thanks, guys. Princess Margaret Rose it is. I actually prefer this with the sage stripe over the white, too - cuts down the Christmas effect, big time.
Funny thing is that I already made myself a four yard box in MacGregor, which is very close to Margaret Rose, with the red and green flipped... I'd feel kind of silly having one of each, so this will probably be in the stash pile for a while.

Good decision and it is a handsome tartan . I've looked at both tartans that you mention and I see what you are saying . I agree , put it in your stash and no doubt you will probably amaze us with a creative use of the material , whatever it may be !!!

    Best to ya , Mike
