Garter Ties and Country Squire Sporran
Hi all,
Just wanted to say that a while back I ordered one of the country squire sporrans from the gift shop, and also had a set of the hose garters sent as well. Both items are fantastic! Very happy with the sporran. I was wanting something a little more casual, and it fits the bill nicely.
Since I have a kilt made from the Tipperary County tartan, I wasn't quite sure what color I would need for the garters, but I took a guess. Thanks to their overwhelming number of tartan examples, they were able to make a better recommendation and the color (brick) is perfect.
Finally, a month or so later, I was able to make it to Franklin for work. I did a quick tour of the museum and bought another set of (gold) garter ties. Really nice set up and the staff there was very helpful.
Thanks again!

It's good to read about your pleasant experiences with the STM. I have have had many, too, but unfortunately they have all been via phone, email, and XMTS. I need to get out to NC one of these days (maybe the Grandfather Mountain games), visit Franklin, and meet all the good folks at the museum.
In the past I purchased a couple of sporrans from them, including the Rob Roy in black. It holds LOTS of stuff and has a fine-looking/working rustic antler closure. I really like the clasp on the Country Squire, but I can't see buying another sporran just for that. Maybe after I win the lottery.
Post a pic of your kilt and sporran, when you get a chance.

Not a very good photo, but this one shows the sporran (and garters).

Here's one with a bit of the flashes showing when my aunt was visiting.

But, it's good enough. Both outfits look great including kilt, sporran, and garters. Are those the same blue hose in both pictures? If so, I assume the bottom picture shows them more accurately. The look very light in the first picture.
Speaking of the first picture, I like what you have in your hand, ... and I'm not referring to the glass of dark beer.

Mookien - yes, same hose, the bar shot flash (and lighting was bad, so the color is correct in the second photo. And yes, I out kicked my defense when I got my wife!
Standard - the jacket is a Harris tweed that I picked up at a good will for $7, my local tailor did the conversion, which was quite nice.

Good catch on your jacket. And great catch on your beautiful wife. Congratulations.
