    Multicultural Kilt Day

Out and about today in my USAKilts Holyrood tartan casual kilt. Ran into a woman wearing a hijab at the grocery store and she complimented me on my kilt and asked about the tartan. I told her she had a lovely hijab (it was very colorful) and we went our separate ways. Later I got my haircut by an elderly Vietnamese man (the woman who usually cuts my hair was out today) and he was very excited by the kilt. I could tell that he really wanted to tell me something but all I really understood was him saying "Vietnam", "Scotland" and "kilt". I did understand when he said "very nice" pointing at the kilt.

Here's a pic; I'm dressed about as casually as can be as today was errand day. Notice the socks - in deference to Texas' heat I am wearing ordinary socks semi-scrunched into my hiking boots. In light of the recent thread about short socks I thought I would post the photo and see what people think.
"Nice Quilt." - comment on my Kilt by a man behind me in line at Home Depot.

Overall I like the look, but the short socks don't work for me. I'd rather (and often do) wear traditional hose scrunched down.

Works for me. My feeling is regardless how others see you, in the end of the day you only have to please one person.

I like it! Of course I'm the guy who wears short socks and converse high tops though so I probably don't count... Lol

Andy: That's a very relaxed informal look - perfectly appropriate for hot weather. Thus, the short socks make sense and look good. Even no socks would be OK, if your shoes/boots breathe well. The Holyrood is one of my favorites, though I don't yet own one. Maybe someday.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Great stories of kilted encounters. If I were in Dallas today I'd wear a casual too - but would be barefoot in sandals in 90+ degrees F with humidity....
