Clan Gathering - 1977

We remember fondly the Gathering of the Clans and the Homecoming of 2009 and many of us are planning for the next one in 2014.

But there was an earlier Clan Gathering in 1977. A much smaller affair, without the benefit of the internet and mobile phones. 55 Chiefs and their clans took part. The erstwhile magazine "Scottish Field" produced a folding chart, of all the standards of the Chiefs, for one of their editions that year.

These are scans from the chart. Please remember that this is the printing standard of a freebie of 35 years ago.

Awesome pictures , Can any clan tent display these flags at there tent ? or are there rules in doing so ? exsample : does the chief have to be present in order to fly these banners ?

My understanding is that these banners are the personal property of the Clan Chief as part of his heraldic arms. They do not belong to the "clan", but to the person who has matriculated his arms before the Lyon Court.
