Angry Braces with a Kilt ??

I know, we've heard it all before. How to compensate loss of weight and alter a kilt.
My problem is that after suffering a Cardiac infarction I have lost 15 kg in weight and approx 1 inch at the waist. Thinking it might be possible that these kgs might return, I dont want to start moving straps and buckles. Where would I put the buttons for braces? On the inside or outside apron.

Based on this guide, it's both:

You can see that there's a set of buttons at the back and a set on each of the aprons.

And a bit more detail, since the scans are a little out of order on the page:

I would agree. I have an ancient/vintage MacDonald kilt with the buttons in the same positions.

    Regards

Thanks a lot Lads, the advice is just what I needed. Now I can wear the Kilt tomorrow.

Buttons were standard on early kilts (as opposed to feileadh beag). Many of the Regency era ones I've examined have buttons.
