all man-made sporran?
Hey rabble, on another site there was a query from a piper opposed to the use of any animal products.
He's looking for anything kilt-related that doesn't have any leather, wool, etc in it.
I immediately thought of the Nightstalker sporran but it's leather trimmed!
Any fully man-made sporrans out there? Kilt hose? Ghillies? Bonnets?
I would guess that he would be safe with a polyviscose kilt, as long as the leather straps were replaced.
For his pipes he can use a GoreTex bag etc.
Thanks for helping out a fellow piper!

For ghillies there are those odd, foam, Croc-like ones, but I don't think the reviews have been too favorable. Here's the link
There is a website for Vegan sporrans, called VeganSporrans, but I'm not overly impressed with their offerings. My guess is that if he wanted something a bit nicer it would have to be custom made.

edit: finally found the link for the foam ghillies

For ghillies, there are "ghillators," which are made out of the same material as Crocs. Sport Kilt has them:

As for a sporran, I once attended a Burns Night with a vegan fellow who made his own from pleather and fun-fur.

... and then there are those who refuse to use synthetics, preferring natural because synthetics are the product of polluting processes.

Aye, Father. People are always cutting off their nose to spite their face.

I know that L&M offers non-hide sporrans but not sure if they use any leather. Just had a quick look at their website and they offer faux seal but with leather tassels. They may be able to swap them out for something else.

I have to comment that I just don't get the thinking of people who feel they are doing the right thing by seeking out products made from materials which are made by polluting industries and from diminishing non-renewable resources instead of traditional products like leather and wool which are natural, renewable and a valuable byproduct of food production.
I doubt that anyone with a vinyl sporran grew up on a farm.
