Loganair Flight 353, Westray to Papa Westray (Orkneys)

Just a fun little read and video about the shortest regularly scheduled commercial flight, which takes place twice daily in the Orkney Islands.

Great story. I enjoy interesting travel anecdotes like this. I used to have to visit clients in Sweden and Denmark. I have not done this in almost 15 years so the town names escape me, but there was a crossing of about 10 minutes journey on the ferry. People would get on to take advantage of the duty free, so there would be a mad rush as soon as the ferry was sufficiently out of port to open the doors. As soon as they reached the other side they would frequently take the ferry back.

I worked at weekends for Loganair when I was student. Later I became a lawyer for the schools of north west Scotland and often flew as a passenger on Loganair to visit schools in the Highlands and Islands. I've still got the Island Hopper sweatshirt though it is rather faded now.

Alex will be able to correct me, but didn't the flight take longer at one time? Something about the regulations requiring the airline to provide refreshments en-route. They had a flask of ready made tea that was passed around the passengers. Kept then on the right side of Air Transport Regulations.
