    Duchess of Cambridge expecting

Breaking news. From CNN: "The royal revelation came as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was admitted to a central London hospital with acute morning sickness. She is expected to be there for several days, the palace announcement said."

Congratulations to the lucky couple! I hope all goes well and that their first child does well. I suppose we should expect to find out if it is a prince or princess in late Spring or very early Summer.

That is great news. I hope all goes well. Having seen my wife with morning sickness I don't envy women a bit and can only admire them the more for going through all that just to get young bipeds who, like as not, make us feel old before our time. Wow. My hat's off to women.

I think Kate and William will make great parents. Looking forward to further developments. Thanks for the tip.

It is very early days - the announcement has only been made due to the Duchess having sudden and severe morning sickness.

If all goes well, however, the child will be third in line to the throne - no more of the Heir Presumptive if a girl. The rules were changed, and the first born inherits.

As far as I know, it's not law yet. All the Commonwealth Realms have to agree first. I believe that the timeline is for sometime in the Spring.

I only wish that mother and child are well - the rest is irrelevant. At least she has the best treatment in the land - unlike so many others in the same situation.

I can tell you from personal experience that all the money in the world will not guarantee a healthy delivery and/or a healthy child. I only wish the couple, and particularly the Duchess, all the best.

The record since the days of Queen Anne is pretty good in that respect apart from the ectopic pregnancy of the Countess of Wessex in 2001.

But I am sure that many of us will still send them our best wishes.

The "deal" was done October 2011, or at least that is what CNN contends: "All this changed at an October 2011 meeting of the leaders of 16 Commonwealth countries in Perth, Australia, where they unanimously agreed to amend the succession rules."
