    Kilts and Tattoos

Vince Hemingson, who organizes our kilts night, has made a film called The Vanishing Tattoo www.vanishingtattoo.com . It is about the Iban people of Borneo and their ancient art of tattooing.

This peaked my curiosity and I was wondering how many of us are kilted and tattooed? How many do you have? what do you have?

I personnaly have 3 tattoos right now. I have an armband with 11 different maple leafs wrapped in vines with my son's name up top. I have a Celtic/Maori style that covers the top of my left arm (shoulder to just above the elbow) with my daughter's name. And I have a Scottish luckenbooth in the middle of my upper back.

It's not very kilt related, but we all seem to have some common traits.

i don't have any. It's hard when you're 15, but I know what I wanna get... even if it is just to spite my dad (actually I wanted them before my dad said he didn't want to see my life "go down that road")

That's funny! My sister and I bought a tattoo for our father's 50th a few years ago. He and I were working on the design earlier this morning.

At 15 you do have to consider your parents wishes. I waited a long time after designing each tattoo, and made sure it was something that meant something to me. I also work in a professional environment, and made sure that my tattoos are not shown at work.

I can't legally get one anyway without they're permission, but what I want is a Celtic cross on my fore-arm and the words Erin and Alba across my fingers (the way Ozzy Osbourne has his name on his fingers)

    shillelaghbruises,
Listen to your dad. Tattoos are permanent, unless you'd rather have some scarring.
I like tattoos. I want tattoos. I just can't decide on a tattoo. (Okay, my bear is one I'll get.) I'm 45 years old and I'm just deciding. You can't make a choice at 15 years old that you'll like when you're 30 years old.
Wait a while, mate. Your skin will still be there.

Just wait until you are 18 and decide. and Why do you want to tattoo Erin and Alba to your knuckles?
