Emerald Society Piper killed in California shootout

(Mods, my apologies if this is not the correct forum to post this in. Please move it if need be.)

Detective Jeremiah Mackay was the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office Deputy killed yesterday in the gun battle near Big Bear. He was an active member of the Inland Empire Emerald Society and was the Society's lead piper. He had volunteered his time and talents on numerous occasions to pipe at the memorial services for fallen officers. He had been organizing a Emerald Society fundraising event for this Friday night to raise money for a Fallen Officers' Memorial Fund.

Detective Mackay was thirty-five years old and had served with the Sheriff's Office for fifteen years. He is survived by his wife and children. Please keep Detective Mackay's family as well as his law enforcement and Emerald Society families in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice Brother. Rest in Peace.

Very sad. I hope his family find solace in the thoughts of the masses who care.

I saw Officer Crane's funeral on TV; The University of Riverside Pipe Band played.

We have some very fine pipers here amongst our Police and Sheriffs, perhaps one or more will pipe for Detective MacKay.

This entire episode has been unspeakably tragic and has kept all of us here in SoCal in a state of anxiousness until this final resolution.
