    Holyrood kilt!!!

    Hello, Rabble!!!

The other day I received my first USAK Casual Kilt. Having been very busy lately I am a bit late with my review.

Now, for the price, I was naturally skeptical but as I didn't want to break the bank I gave one a shot.

    The Jones ensued...mightily it did.

My kilt was one day passed the seven week mark. True to his advert, Rocky had it to me before St Patrick's Day.

The tailoring is spot on. Off-the-rack and tailored kilts (regardless of yardage and degree of formality) are lightyears apart!!
My Stillwater is an okay kilt...my new USA Kilt is frickin' sweet!!

Ian did an awesome job (thanks, mate).

I am always nervous when transacting business with a merchant who is new to me.

When I tried on my new kilt it was such a treat!

The weave is gorgeous. The colours are rich and vivid (photos really don't do the fabric justice). The craftsmanship is very solid.

It is pleated to the white line...and looks smashing.

The pleats are pretty geneous for a low-yardage, informal-styled kilt. They have some heft to them, which was a nice suprise.

    The apron is nicely proportioned.

I now know what P/V fans like about it. It is a light fabric (11-12 ounces) but surprisingly heavier than I expected. Certainly heavier than acryllic. It has a softer hand but that is not objectionable to me in the least.

Now for the downside- no liner, no waistband, no stabliser, no straps (attaches with velcro). For the price-point, I can see why it is built the way it is build
DO NOT LET THAT DETER YOU!!! These are very fine kilts!!! I would certainly consider another kilt like this or even another P/V in a more formal style.

The swish is really good. Not the same as wool but really good!

    Here are some pics.

Kilt: USA KILTS Casual Kilt, Holyrood Tartan
Sporran: A-Hay! Sporran #54 by Tom Hay
Hose: Lovat Blue colour, found on E-Bay.
    Flashes: Red
Hat: Fore-And-Aft from Scotweb (listed as a Ghillie Hat on their site)

Great pics. In a couple of month am going to buy a new kilt. It was a USAK casual in either U.S. Navy or Holyrood. With those pictures I think I have made up my mind. Thanks. That is a great looking kilt. By the way what color hose are those?
I've got big shoes to fill ... so I wear big socks!

Great looking kilt! I like your entire outfit, too, especially your sporran. That color hose goes nicely with the Holyrood. Good show!
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

The new kilt is a beauty! Welcome to the Holyrood club. (sounds like a place that would have really nice leather lounge chairs and VERY expensive port, doesn't it? )
