I'll echo some of TOB's recommendations-

lovat blue, lovat green, tan, or claret would be my first choices.

I have a Black Watch kilt and like black, lovat blue, charcoal, claret, or navy. Depending on what you're wearing on top, maybe an oatmeal/tan. I'm not a fan of lovat green, just me. Would love some diced hose or some of the fancy hose with patterned tops, but don't have budget for those...yet!

    I'd choose the claret first.

Pink, mustard, and all of the above.

See this thread., esp for commentary by Steve, but lots of good input about choosing hose colors. And this other one pictars of black watch with mnay different colors of hose. I wonder if we shouldnt' just put together a new thread 'pics of differnent hsoe with BW'?

I would probably try to match or blend it with whatever color(s) I wore above it, so that the kilt stands alone as the centerpiece of my outfit.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Oatmeal and Lovat Green combine very well although, I must say, some other colours are also attractive. The only 'look' I personally would not like to follow is the ‘casual look’ (irrespective the color). I my opinion a kilt needs ‘hose’... always.
