    New Kilt/Dilemma - Part 2

    Hello Rabble
Sorry it has taken me so long to send this thread.
Many thanks to all who replied to the last one - especially the expert from the STA. In order to resolve the problem as to whether my King Gearge VI is indeed a royal tartan, or a fake, or just a weaving mistake, I once again wrote to Buckingham Palace. It has taken 6 weeks for them to reply! (maybe HRH was busy decorating the nursery, having a birthday party and things?).
I sent photos, thread counts, much info received from these pages, and private replies etc.
The reply was that Buckingham Palace 'have no further comment to make' - ie the original descision 'that it would not be right for me to wear the kilt' still stands. The Palace also apologised for sending me a 'disappointing reply'.
So, as a British subject, living in England, I do not have Royal approval to wear it.

If you don't tell them when you are going to wear it - they will never know ...

Heah heah - well said Chas (Heah heah or "hear hear" is a term of endorsement often used in the Houses of Parliament in London)

I don't think GCHQ or MI6 will deploy a car to your home to collect the kilt or intercept you if you wear it

So now you do have a written statement by the crown that it is a restricted George the VI.
Now you can sell it as such for a higher price together with the letters.

Or keep it and wear it, or just look at it.

I did not reply to the first posting of this issues because .... well, I just didn't have anything really to add. In the original thread I seem to recall many suggestions about selling it to some "Yank" (revolutionary?) who might actually relish having a kilt (and maybe even wearing it?) that was "disapproved" by the crown. Damned Yanks! I would think that together with all the correspondence you have received about it (certainly shows attempted respect and responsibility as a "subject of the crown" on your part) that it would now be quite a collector's piece. The "controversy" may now be worth more than the kilt.
