    no more complaining!

There was a thread a few days ago discussing an odd jacket listed on eBay by Glasgow vintage seller. The same seller had several kilts and other jackets, including a decent looking velvet Montrose doublet for 50 GBP. I pointed out the Montrose, then made a joking "nothing to see here" comment, figuring some wise bidder would appreciate having fewer people looking.

Well, if that is the case, someone was too clever by half, as nobody bid on it.

Hey! I would have jumped on that thing like a spider monkey if it had fit me.

I start feeling a tad tiny when I go to the Highland Games and see the burly Scotsmen tossing things around that I would be challenged to even pick up now days.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Given that the average jacket size I see for sale on eBay hovers somewhere around 36", I'm sticking with my grumble.

I read somewhere that at the time of Culloden the average Highlander was 5 foot 2 inches tall yet some of the Hanovarian soldiers were 'cleaved from the top of their heads to the breast bone'. Go figure that one !!!!!

Tiny Scotsman reporting. 21 years, 36S jacket with 28" kilt.

    Be jealous.

I am near 60 here Nick and have been buying new and like new Small slim fit $40-70 dress western shirts for less than the cost of postage. We are the size most guys "grow out of". Mom and Pop paid for them for their teen and the collage kids need money for even more beer and pizza.

5 foot 2 inches? That wasn't height, that was width. *ducks*.

The old joke that Scots are the same width as their height is almost true, short and round, and furry...like a ball. ;-)
