Can this look be pulled off?
I have been wearing my kilts for a wee bit over 14 weeks straight now. While I love my kilts and balmoral look, I am sorely missing my cowboy hats. Question for the rabble.....Can this look be pulled off or is it too far beyond the pale that it borders on outrageous and does injustice to the kilt? Please, be honest.....This is me in my Spirit of Scotland tartan.

Take a look at this older thread on Western Stlye with Contemporary Kilts, might give you some insight to the thoughts about western wear and the kilt wearing.

Deleted. Above post more than covers what I had to ad. Good luck to you with your choices.

I was once told that it is important to note that you wear the kilt, it doesn't wear you. So the choice is yours. But IMHO, I'm just not feeling the hat. Sorry.
Keep your rings charged, pleats in the back, and stay geeky!

I don't like cowboy hats. But I'm a nobody to you. If you can walk into a mall and feel confident in your attire then you're pulling it off. If you can't, you need to put some headphones in and play eye of the tiger while you walk through the mall.
If that doesn't help, well then, it doesn't mean you need to change your look. Just look in the mirror and like what you see. Life is too short to care what other people think.
I don't think you look like a bum or bizarre. I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with you. Rock your look. It's respectable and well put together. There's nothing wrong with it.

I think that I'd pass on this look. I'm in Oklahoma, and so I've got all the same gear (hat) too, but I'm thinking that on my side of the coin, I'd pass on this one. No offense meant, but for me, it looks a bit (or has a feel of being) a bit "cross dresser" . A look that I'm assuming your not going for.

I decided to do it...and I did. This is a photo of me in Nashville this past Saturday. On my way the Wildhorse Saloon. The look was approved of by myself and my Mrs (we were celebrating our 23rd anniversary in Nashville). I was requested by several ladies, some in bachelorette parties, to have my photo taken with them. One of the cheeky devils actually picked me to be part of her "treasure" hunt where she had to choose a man to kiss her (on the cheek until she turned quickly and smooched me on the lips...lol). So I'm guessing the look worked a wee bit.

LOL...LOL... All good reasons to wear a kilt...Good for you. I had a great reception when I wore my black watch to a CW bar.
