My one year anniversary!
It was a year ago I got my 1st kilt, and joined the fun here on XMarks. The kilt was an $89 special (with sporran!) I picked up at the local games. I immediately went into the men's room and changed.
A year later, by hook & crook, I have a PV kilt from Rocky and the good folks at USA Kilts, as well as a bespoke tweed vest from them. VMac transformed a Harris Tweed jacket I found in a Goodwill store for 10 bucks into a stylish kilt jacket. I have 3 sporrans now, none very fancy, but the last one, an inexpensive Rob Roy, sure does the trick for holding all my "stuff." I have 4 pair of kilt hose now, including some cream ones I picked up at the local games last weekend. And a pair of black wingtips I bought just to wear with the kilt. I have a number of spread collar shirts I wear to work and a tattersall one I picked up off ebay that I only wear with the kilt. I make my own kilt and sporran belts.
I would love to get a black argyle jacket and/or a PC, but am not sure when or if I can do that. I'd like to get an 8 yard kilt in ancient Campbell, and maybe a casual in Wallace, but am not sure when or if I can do that either. I'll be retiring in a few years, and would like more of a variety of kilts for that time, but I am also being savvy about money. I haven't had a raise at my job in 4 years, and don't expect one soon. Given the rate of inflation, even as low as it is, essentially I just keep losing money!
I do very much appreciate all the help I have got, and the camaraderie here at XMarks. You guys are the best! Thanks.
Frank

Frank, how far you have come. I'm not too far behind you, I ordered my kilt a year ago October... and then the "jonesing" began. Keep calm, and kilt on.

Nice to hear from you two. If it hadn't been for Prohibition in the states, we'd still be in Ontario. My grandfather (bless his soul) was an illegal immigrant nearly a century ago now. Somebody had to distribute the liquor on this side of the border...
There is an outside chance I may get into an 8 yard tank yet. We will see.

Frank: Happy Anniversary! It's been great having you on the forum. I've enjoyed following your continued immersion into the milieu of "Scottish attire", ... and all things related. You have acculturated to it faster than most folks - certainly faster than me. I'm not sure I'm there, yet. Congratulations, and may you enjoy many more years on XMTS.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Congratulations!
2015 will be the 40 year mark, for me, of playing the pipes and wearing the kilt!
