Saffron kilts less than $150

Hi all...new to the forum and newish to the world of kilts. I currently own a kilt bought out at the local renaissance festival a few years back, but I'm going to be buying a saffron kilt here shortly and was seeking the boards advice.

I'm looking for a saffron kilt, and I'd like to keep the kilt below $150. I've looked at the Amerikilt saffron and the Stillwater Standard Saffron kilt.

First off, is anyone else aware of any other options for saffron kilts in this price range?

I like both modern and traditional kilts, so that's not the deciding factor to me. What I'm hoping for is a well made kilt that will last, and hopefully not wrinkle constantly. I've read the Amerikilt saffron is a heavier material (10 oz.)...will that increase or decrease how easily it wrinkles.

Any opinions on the Stillwater standard kilts? I know they only come in one length, but that's the same length as my current kilt so I know it should work...although it is on the verge of being too long.

So...feel free to share your thoughts/guidance/advice. I'm planning on wearing the kilt casually around town as well as to band gigs at the renaissance festival.

Stillwater Heavyweight is also under $150, and being wool is less prone to wrinkles than acrylic.

I saw that...but they only list three sizes (all of which are not my size). Eric

I concur about the Stillwater wool kilt. I've had one and it was one of my favorites (until I gained too much weight to wear it). It's currently at $142 and Jerry gives great service.

I own two Stillwater standards and I can vouch for them being of good quality. That being said, Geoff is right about wool being less prone to wrinkles. The Stillwater heavyweight is within your budget and it's worth the money.

Just my $0.02. YMMV.

After reading this post which included the info about SWK having wool kilts fro less than $150.00, I decided to check it out. Looked great so I (just now) hit the button on buying a nice new 100% new wool black shadow kilt. I'd like to have a wool black watch too (the were on sale for $99. which is to me unheard of for a wool kilt) , but the were out of my size.

So,......thanks for the post regarding SWK and the pricing. This has helped me in my quest for swapping out all my synthetic material kilts out for wool ones, and now I'm looking forward to getting my NEW (to cool) black shadow wool kilt!

As soon as this new black shadow kilt arrives, I'm going to be offering my black 8 yard P.V. kilt for sale.
