    I Was Just Thinking Outloud

I know the subject sounds rather dangerous, but I am curious as to how many of you with sons, how they react to your kilt wearing? Are they embarrassed, are they envious, or are they apathetic? I know that Bear and Cub are on the same page sort of speaking, how about others of you?

And those of you sons who still live at home is your Dad cool with your kilting?

Since I have no sons, and my Father died before I stared kilting I am living through you guys.

Like I said I was thinking outloud.

My sons are on their own. They think the kilts are cool, their wives think I'm nuts, my parents like it. Actually, one of the daughters in law thought it was cool after she actually saw me in a kilt, but she doesn't want her hubby wearing one

My 3 sons at home all want a kilt, more expense , the one who doesn't live with me is ok about it but it's kind of taken away from the shock value of some of his mates who wear skirts, (goths). My daughter who also has her own place thinks it's,,, well I'm not sure what she thinks, she's never really said, but she did say a kilt suits me 'in a funny kind of way'. Her boyfriend is embarassed which surprises me as he's a fashion victim (kilts are worn by celebs wanting to make a statement,) and will think nothing of spending £100 on a shirt. Salmon tastes on a kipper income.
My mum when I'm in a kilt tends to and her last comment was 'you look just like that comedian, you know, the transvestite- Eddie Izzard'.
The guy I think of as my dad when he first saw it said' a kilt thats marvellous, absolutley great'.
My Grandma likes it but did say, 'you look better going than you did coming in'.
    Cheers Rhino

My kids, aged 11 and 7, were immediately envious when they saw me in a kilt, saying "I want a kilt too!" Now they each have a couple of kilts of their own which I made for them. (Actually, Lance made one of them for my oldest boy). I generally get a better response from the public when the three of us are out together in our kilts. ("Oh those kids are so adorable"). We also seem to turn heads more quickly when we're together. A single kilted man is rare enough 'round these parts, but a whole kilted family is nearly unheard of. They haven't bugged me for a Utilikilt or any sort of kilt that costs lots of money yet. They're perfectly happy with the cheap ones that I made for them. They even helped pick out the fabric. "Dad, this is only a dollar per yard. Can you make me a kilt?"

My son loves wearing his kilt. He just turned 3, so I am hoping he grows up with an accepting attitude so that he never second guesses wearing a kilt. He loves it when dad is wearing his kilt, and will ask if he can have his on. Check out my album in my profile for a few pictures.

I have three sons, two have worn kilts, one is very interested.
All my kids have quickly come to accept what I do, tho in their hearts they prob. think the ol geezer has lost the plot.

I have three grown sons all of whom accept my kilt-wearing without problem although none have shown any interest in wearing a kilt themselves. My daughter has said I look cool and they suit me. :P My wife doesn't understand at all other than for formal functions.

    Phil,

You haven't mowed the lawn in weeks, you borrowed the car and left no gas in it, you haven't cleaned the dinner table, and your school work is suffering, your friends just egged the house, but to top it all off you better get in the house and CLEAN YOUR ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Question answered?

I have two sons (well step sons). One is 18, the other is 14. They both love to wear kilts. The fourteen yearold wears his to all his cross country track meets and never bats an eye. The eighteen year old will soon be in the Citadel, so his kilt wearing will be severly curtailed for a while.
