    Kilted Safe Medication Disposal Event

So the local Page Police Department keeps a medication disposal box in the lobby of police headquarters. City Water Department says flushing old meds is bad bad bad for the water. Twice a year the cops roll out their big mobile command center and the med box and promote folks finding their old meds and bringing them by. Last time around they hauled in 57 POUNDS of pills just from our little town. This time I didn't think I had any....but double checked and found some expired anti-nausea meds and 30 OXYCOTEN 5mg... both left from surgery 18 months ago...plum forgot about them. Never did take either one - just gutted out the pain. Never thought about taking the oxys but sure thought about selling them...

Today the cops set up outside Wal-Mart so stopped by to toss the pills before I got arrested for doing something stupid.

So, add this to the list of unusual things you can do kilted.

After, I went on into Wal-Mart to pick up some stuff I can't mention here and ran into the wife of a professional friend. He asked if he could take a photo of me in my kilt. He really liked the kilted look he said. He's a very large Black guy who could pass for Forrest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland....maybe he'll kilt up too...or maybe I'll be on that People of Wal-Mart site...

Excuse my ignorance Riverkilt, but what tartan is that you are wearing?

Thanks Geoff and Ron. An attractive tartan.

+4 on not dumping your old medicines down the drain.

The hospital where I am employed, I think at the point of federal law, now has disposal boxes all over the building and significant penalties for dumping stuff down the drain. The nurses have to consult a list to see which color box a particular medicine goes into; but it does, as they say, keep it out of everyone else's water.

I confess to being mildly perturbed by the fact that selling them crossed your mind. I am glad that you have set an example by doing the right thing. Drug addiction is a curse, not just on the individual, but it weakens society as a whole. You are far too handsome for the "People of Walmart".

I'm sure Ron meant that as a joke.

Correct, Dress Blue Marine tartan....a beautiful tartan and a fine compliment to the Leatherneck tartan. Gives one a choice of colors and the Dress Blue beautifully captures the colors of the uniform. Steve is the creator and the place to getcha one. Semper Fi.

Cornet - a valid concern. My profession the past 20 years has been counseling - mostly addictions counseling - often in venues most people avoid. I often deal with Rx medication addicts and many of them deal to get by. Not a core thought of mine, more the world I work in. Were I to sell them and be caught - highly likely in my small town where everyone knows me all too well - I'd be arrested, severely prosecuted for going "rogue," and lose my job and my licenses to practice my profession. Not the sort of retirement I've envisioned.

But for sure, when I hold that vial of Oxy's can't help but think they're worth enough to purchase a kilt...

If it brings any relief - the photo was taken by a friend, who happens to be the Captain (Chief) of our local police department.
