Sgian dubh as a work knife...
I've been hunting around for good quality sgian to use as a daily work knife. It needs to be tough, hold an edge, and most importantly have a sheath I can wear on my belt. A sheath that can sit horizontally would be even better as I often make deliveries and ofcourse don't want something ruining the seats in any vehicle. Plus pulling the sgian out horizontally is a bit more ergonomic.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I wish there was a pic of the sheath. Might you have a pic you post?
Is the sheath comfortable to wear and move around in?

A horizontal hanging sheath is some what uncommon. Ive never seen one for sale. Its not a hard thing to make, Ive made a few.

A traditional sgian is meant to be worn in the sock, so I assume we're taking some leeway with not only the carry style, but perhaps knife design as well. If you consider having a custom sheath made it opens up a lot more possibilities for sgians that don't come with a belt sheath because they are intended for use with kilt hose...
You could look at the Cold Steel Secret Edge, which has a neck sheath and wouldn't ruin any vehicle seats

Or the slightly more expensive one made by Atificum Solice. It comes with a sheath, but they don't show a picture of it.
