    Statistics

Of the 26 members who've posted pics in the personal galleries, 16 have facial hair and 9 are clean-shaven (I've not counted Kilt'n'Khuk for obvious reasons).

Statistically this must have some great significance, but what??

My wife makes sure I shave. If not for her I'd look like a mountain ape.

Up until recently I have had a beard most of the time. But, it is turning white with a vengance and out of vanity I haven't had the courage to grow it back. Damn near bled to death shaving this morning.

beards are natural, they define a man IMHO as opposed to a woman who cannot grow a beard. They represent freedom - from shaving, beards are God's insulation.

In fact, all these attributes also apply to kilts, so I guess it is not surprising to see men in beards and kilts. (MIB&K)

I spent the first 45 years of my life clean shaven. When my hairline started to significantly recede, I decided to let my beard grow a bit as compensation. That was also just in time for the millenium year as it turns out. Now I keep mine trimmed close so it's not much use as insulation. At the time I let it grow, I hadn't yet hatched the notion of owning a kilt so I can't say that had anything to do with it. My wife has asked me many times to shave it off but I have resisted. I think it adds a bit of character to my otherwise ugly puss.

When I was in college oh those many years ago, several of us guys decided to have a beard growing contest. The first one to shave lost, we're still trying to figure out who will be the loser.

Besides I think I look better bearded and kilted.
