A wee sojourn round the north west highlands

The wife had never been further north than a line between Ullapool in the west and Dornoch in the East. We had a chance for a couple of days away so she wanted to see the north west (i had recently described it to her after visiting a couple of construction sites up there).

i thought you Xmarkers might like to see some pics
1st stop just outside Ullapool at a wee spot called Ardmair. I took a panoramic shot to get it all in

Heading up to Assynt and a stop to take a pic of Stac Pollaidh and Suilven (I think)

Another panorama shot - Back down toward Ullapool on the left and up to Assynt on the right [IMG]/IMG]

Looking back down Loch Gleann Dubh

Torrisdale Bay ( I think) at Bettyhill. Bettyhill was our destination when we set out. It had been dry all day, but as usual, it started to rain when we arrived here. Still a great trip though.

They breed them tough up there

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. For me it was nice to be up there and not having to be somewhere for a specific time for a meeting, or something else to do with work. We were really amazed at how empty the roads were, even for mid January. It will be a different story in May, June, July and August.

I did, but I was being buffeted by the wind so they were out of focus/blurred. Perhaps next time. As you are from the Pacific NW, are you into surfing?

Wow! Great shots. Thanks. Brrr! I had to view them with a cup of hot tea.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

This is a shot of the River Beauly, above the hydro. Not a sound to be heard.
