How can I get an embroidery pattern for a clan crest?

I just purchased a Brother embroidery machine. I would like to be able to put our clan crest on some casual kilts that I am making. Does anyone know how to go about this? The shop from where I purchased had, amazingly, no idea.

You might find this useful -- I don't use one of these, but I have heard about software to create patterns. Then all that you'd need is a colour illustration of your clan's crest.

And to get there I put the following into Google: "brother embroidery machine design software"

Hope this starts you in the right direction

Please remember that the belt and buckle design of some Clan Crests are under Copyright. You cannot just copy someone else's design and use it.

That said if your machine uses .JEF format designs, I have a generic badge that I use on my Brother. I can then digitize any crest for the center.

This is how I did the X Marks Embroidered patches.

I bought my clan crest design for my brother from here http://crispincraft.com/ClanBadge.htm
and they emailed it to me and I hooked up the brother to the laptop and it worked great .
Only $10 and you can embroider any thing that will fit in the machine .
    thank you

You might also email the leadership of your clan society and ask where they get their embroidery done, then email the embroidery shop and ask for the file. You might have to pay for it, and make sure it's a format your machine will read.
