How does it fit?
Hello friends, I would like your opinions on fitting since I have no idea what I'm doing. I've written a couple times about my misadventures of kilt buying. Long story short, I am going to return the kilt I bought and exchange it for another. I wanted to try on what I have before I send it back to make sure it does fit right. It seems to, to me. But I've never worn a kilt before. I'd really like a second (or more) opinion(s). I took a couple pics in front of a mirror. Sorry for the bad lighting, it doesn't do the ramsey blue justice. The one where I am pointing at myself, that it my belly button for reference. The kneeling pic is for length measurement. The bottom was maybe .25 to .5 inches off the ground. And all the buckles were pretty much in the middle of the straps. http://imgur.com/a/uW1vz Thanks for helping the newb.

Hmm, it's really hard to tell from the angle of those photos. I can't see your kneecaps at all, which would normally mean it's too long. But the camera angle may be at fault here.
Based on the "shower curtain" effect you have going on in the pleat area, though, I'd say the hip size on this kilt is way too large for your build.

the bottom of the kilt is level with the middle of my knee caps. Can you explain what a shower curtain effect is? Because it is a budget PV, I don't think they offer custom adjustments / measurements. But instead general ranges. This kilt pictured is an 8 yard, 34-36"

"Shower curtain" refers to the way the pleats are all wavy in the back, like a shower curtain hangs. A well-fitted kilt should have the pleats in a pretty smooth arc around your backside.

http://imgur.com/a/uW1vz I took pics to show the back. If it it isn't "horrible", I'm ok with it.

The fit doesn't look too bad to my eye, maybe a bit large in the hips, but you don't appear to have much difference between your hips and waist, so that would be expected on an off the rack kilt.
However, I am not sure if I am looking at this wrong, but it appears to have the two buckles on the left hip, and single on the right, and the overapron opens on the left side? Is that the case? If so, then it is reverse of the normal way of making a kilt. Usually the overapron opens on the right, and the double buckles are there, and the single one on the left.
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

Using this as a guide A1=37", A2=38", and B=40" So you are right, not a huge difference there. I guess if I lose a few more pounds the fit may get worse.
There is one buckle on the left, and 2 on the right. It looks opposite because I'm taking the pics with a mirror.

It looks to me that the top buckle could be tighter around the waist, and the second buckle looser that it is in the photo. The second buckle seems to pull in the the kilt in that area, even on the hips. Perhaps loosening that one would give the back side a more relaxed look and a bit of a swing...
