Enormous sporran, or very small man?

I picked this postcard recently for an exhibition called "For Auld Lang Syne; Images of Scottish Australia from First Fleet to Federation" (on at the Art Gallery of Ballarat until 27th of July for anyone interested). Besides the awesome hose this man is wearing (and this seems like a studio portrait ie. "posed" photo), has anyone ever seen a sporran that wide, or is this man approximately four feet tall?

I'd be interested to hear the views of those who collect these kinds of photos (OC Richard, I'm looking at you!) as I've never seen a sporran of that size in any antique photos.

Also, to make it clear, I haven't yet gone to the exhibition, but if I can, and there are more photos of the kind I'll do my best to post them, so I have no idea of the provenance of this particular image.

    Cheers,

    Cameron

    Wow, that's quite an outfit!

It looks to me like a fair bit of it is made out of wood or cardboard. The sporran and all the buckles appear to be simply mocked up out of wood or card and are not the 'real deal'. The Glengarry and brooch look authentic enough, but not much else. Even the doublet looks suspiciously home-made.

It's not the Ancient Mariner as a younger man, is it? Turned his albatross into a sporran??
