From the time I made the decision to get a kilt, I knew that I'd be wearing it modern casual. Therefore I needed a good pair of boots that I could scrunch the hose down into.
I found an awesome worn brown pair on ebay very cheaply (£16) and only wear them when I'm kilted up. Having recently bought my 3rd and 4th kilts, along with a new black pair of boots, the worn brown ones look a bit sad in comparison. I'd never get rid of them until the fall apart, but was desperately thinking of what I could do to alter them. And then hit upon the simple idea of changing the laces. It's amazing how a simple thing that cost a couple of quid can have such a major impact on how a pair of boots look...
