I need to Stop, Yet another one '

This is my latest kilt I didn't really want the kilt it was the Sporran I was after but they came together so ended up with both / Its and Ex military Roil Regiment of Scotland kilt 1.9KG and its just my size as well 36" so excellent realy .

I really hate the silly bows so they came of the same day it arrived and went in the bin and I made some flashes out of the dangly part .

This was the reason I got it. I wanted the Sporran it came with. My 1926 Horse hair is loosing hair faster then my thing head and I don't whant to start looking scrappy in a year or 2 as I use it all the time so wanted a new one . Both kilt and Sporran are both as new only been out a few times .

A few days later my guy at the MOD sorted this out me.
Used but like new very heavy like the other one . The pocket at the back is not as big though. but I like the solid brass look of this one . Don't think ill be using the white bely though.

They are way bigger then I was expecting im not shore if they may look a bit portentous when im out the other one is just that bit smaller and kind of blends in but these 2 relay stand out. I may pit vinegar on the brass to age it a bit

Man, you're ending up with some fine kilts. Love the MOD quality. They really set the standard.

By the way, I am a 36" so if you find you regret some nice MOD black watch or Cameron or Gordon think of me!

Please define MOD quality for me. This may define me as a newbie, but you have to start to learn somewhere!

I think he is referring to the quality of the wool being 22oz so heavy and the stitching is excelentt and they are hard wearing . Id have to say many kilts are made as good no doubt but the lining and build quality on these kilts is I have to say better then any of my other kilts so far .

MOD= Ministry of Defense. Scottish regimental kilts are fantastic. The weight, the quality of construction - they set the bar in my opinion. Band kilts are heavy weight in the mortal world. As Norbo indicates the MOD kilts are wicked heavyweight.

Awesome. Looks great. Also the kilt, I really like the Ex-Mil kilts.

    Very nice kilt!
As far as I know the regiment wears the bows with much pride because they were advised to wear them by HM Queen Victoria. So don't let them hear saying they were silly

I actually have 2 more that I have purchased over the last week or 2 but 1 in in Edinburgh picked up by a friend who is shoing a bike with us at the Great Scottish bike show . and 1 was picked up by another friend as the bloke all so would no post and he is sending me that Monday . So im getting quight a nice collection . Just picked up 3 more flashes and 4 bets for the sporrans from an Hire place and ive made a few more flashes my self as I never seem to have 1 to match the kilt im in and the black crappy hose I got from eBay just fall down with out them.

Its the military ones I like the most the really to hang well feel great on and the quality is second to non . im just looking out for a Cameron Highlanders now as the Blackwatch argyle and roil highlanders are basically the same set in different shades

I like the bows, however they would mark you out as wearing an ex-military/surplus kilt.

Is it as heavy as the older (pre RRS) military kilts?

I note that the old green colour band at the top is not there and it actually looks like it is made of better quality tartan than some of the older ones which were the roughest material I've ever come across. I had one kilt issued to me before that felt as though I was wearing barbed wire!
