    Press Interview

I have just waved goodbye to a reporter and a photographer from "The Argus", a local paper with distribution across the county. In the hour-long visit, they managed to pose some pretty searching and intelligent questions, and took masses of photos of everything from one of my three-piece kilt suits (for the 'smart look') to shots of me gardening in one of my grubby Utilikilts.

The article, scheduled to appear tomorrow morning, seems to be angled at all aspects of kilt-wearing, rather than focussing on any one. We'll have to wait to see what they do with it. Unfortunately, there are several editions of the paper, so I may have to dash around the county to find the right one!!

WOW, that's great Hamish, is there any way we can all see the results?

Amazingly, we've just had a similar thing here tonight.

Tonight I got a few members of our group to come round kilted, a local newspaper photographer came round to do a photo shoot for a feature to work in conjunction with National Tartan Day here.

This will mean some good exposure for our group specifically and kilted celts generally.

So well done, isn't it great - this network of people all over the globe, all working to save the community from the "tyranny of trousers" ?

All right Ham and Graham!!! (sounds like a law firm).

I'll do the searches online to see about an e-print for everyone. Atleast the press interviewed the right people for the stories!

Well, Bubba, and why not? I have been told I am pretty delicious and no doubt there are those who would find Graham tasty too!

The latest on this: Before I had a chance to go out hunting for the paper this morning, I had a 'phone call from the Pictures Editor to tell me they'd had a change of plan. Whilst their photographer had some good shots taken yesterday, they didn't have enough.
They now want to do a spread of some 15-20 photos in tomorrow morning's paper!!

The man himself has just called at my home and taken all my photo CDs (I have a CD for every kilt, and add new images as they are taken). They'll copy what they want and return the disks this afternoon. He would have used the images in my IMFF Album but the resolution is too low (I have to resize before posting photos there - as I do to get images here in my Personal "X Marks" Gallery).

All this was deemed to be quicker than have them come to shoot 20 'emsembles' from scratch - I am not a quick-change artiste after all!

As to the queries about seeing the article/pics: there is an on-line version of the paper but it requires a sub. payment to receive it. I'm too Scottish to waste my bawbees on such as that!! We'll see what can be done once it is published.

Hamish, the photographer who took shots of us had a fancy digital camera, I asked if I could have a copy (to show you all), he said I would have to BUY it off the paper and get permission before i post it!!

So Hamish, I hope you are being paid well for the use of the photos, you deserve something from it.

I will try to get a copy to show you all.

Well, I too was told that I'd have to buy any copies of the photos the paper took. However, the majority of those they will use, look like being MY photos. No, Graham, I am not being paid for their use but then, if this article does anything at all to promote kilt-wearing out there, I am more than pleased for them to be used FOC.

My CDs were returned to me a few minutes ago, and the fellow who brought them told me he believed the paper is going to a double-page spread!

Nigel (he of IMFF.NET) has offered to scan the article and post it on his website, so I'll be snail-mailing a copy of the paper to him. Watch this space for a link to it - maybe by the weekend.
