Scotland trip follow-up: Italian Chapel on Orkney

    Hi
Those that followed our recent 12-day Highland Haggis Hunt will remember we visited the Italian Chapel in Orkney. The tour guide noted that the site had been vandalized about a month prior to our visit, with several handcarved Stations of the Cross plaques being stolen.

Here's a follow-up story from The Scotsman on replacing the missing items. Interesting and heart warming.

I visited the Italian Chapel last month while on holiday in Orkney. I was very shocked and saddened to hear of the theft of these plaques. Glad to hear that they are being replaced, and that some of the original craftsmen are involved.

    Thanks for posting.

that is interesting that they are now listed as stolen. When I was there the first week of Sept they had signs up indicating that they were down for preservation. The sign was so funny we took a picture of it . Good to hear that replacements have been made.

Sad to hear of the necessity, but a warm and fuzzy resolution.
